One is a project of the Cambodian Kids Foundation (CKF), a Not for Profit, NGO working in the Kingdom of Cambodia.
CKF predominantly works in Kampong Thom Province and Phnom Penh, Cambodia. Working with the people to create and maintain projects that are focused on Education, Sustainability, Empowerment and Women.
CKF set up ONE in 2012 as a training center for Women wanting to learn skills within the beauty industry. The idea was to create an option for women who were unable to excel in their working environments due to their lack of education. Without education, women in particular are limited to which jobs they are able to obtain, often this can lead to exploitation.
At ONE the women have a chance to excel in the beauty industry, rise through the ranks to become managers or gain business management experience to open their own businesses. The women are also offered a good wage, free accommodation, meals and are able to access training to better their industry experience and to learn English.
From humble beginnings ONE has continued to grow as a successful business, as ONE is not for profit, the majority of ONE's earnings after paying for wages and equipment goes back into the Cambodian community.
The women who work at ONE have developed the "Pay it Forward" mentality. It is not uncommon to see the women on their days off working in villages, cutting the hair of people living on the street or passing their skills on to other women. The women of ONE are role models and we are so proud that many of them are an inspiration for other young girls and women in Cambodia.
